On our recent trip to Europe, we visited multiple museums. While I had a general appreciation for antique oil paintings and have been buying some for our house, seeing so many in person has fueled a desire to collect as many as we can. However, since we haven’t won the lottery and cannot afford an authentic Monet or Degas I have to limit my finds to relatively inexpensive pieces sold locally. The next few posts will highlight the ones we have collected over the last couple of months. Above is one of the smaller paintings. It is 16″ x 12″ not including the frame.
This one was very inexpensive to start with. The seller was changing decor styles and just wanted to get rid of it. They lived about 30 minutes away. Chelsea and Hobbes volunteered to ride with me, which I appreciated. Since we were near the downtown area of Davidson, we decided to find something to eat. Unfortunately, the only place open was a not-so-cheap restaurant called Flatiron. It was good, but boosted the overall cost of the purchase considerably.
