I found this lamp tucked away in a dark back corner of an antique shop I visit fairly often. The thing about this shop is that nothing has prices on it. If you are interested in buying an item you have to ask the owner how much it is. As a general rule, he knows EVERYTHING that is in the store, but when I asked about this lamp, he didn’t remember it. We had to walk to the back of the store for him to peer into the shadows and give me a quote. He gave me a price that Chelsea and I thought was fair, so we made the deal.
After digging it out, I loaded it into the car and took it home. It wasn’t until later in the day that I was able to look at it more closely. That is when I noticed that colorwise the base didn’t match the pole. That’s fine. I can touch it up, so it blends.
Wait.
The decorative middle piece also doesn’t match, but I am not sure it matches the base.
It then dawns on me that this lamp is likely multiple fixtures that have been pieced together.
Am I disappointed? Not really. It would have been cool to have found an antique piece that was completely original, but we still like the lamp and still feel like the price was fair.
