We finally got around to making a decision regarding the empty wall in the foyer. We originally thought we might go with one oversized piece of artwork from an artist in Mexico. The colors would have been perfect, but once I created a mockup in Pixelmator Pro (a Photoshop type application designed for MacOS) it became apparent it was going to look anemic against such a large space. Ultimately, we decided to pull together a selection of William Morris exhibition prints.
One of the major headaches was finding frames that were big enough to fill the wall, while not costing a fortune. Craig Frames had one matted option we liked, but the frame was too bright a gold. It looked out of place with the brass elements throughout the house. Not finding a better option, I bought one and experimented with Rub ‘n Buff, a wax product mixed with metallic pigment. They offer a wide variety of colors. I went with antique gold.
We are happy with the end result and can turn our attention to other areas.
