The Residents of Historic Concord neighborhood association had a Christmas tour of about a dozen homes and churches last weekend. All of the buildings are beautiful regardless of the time of year, but the decorations elevated them to a different level.
Most residences had multiple Christmas trees. A couple of them had a tree in each room.
The tour occurred about a week after I had been complaining setting up two trees in our house.
Chelsea kept saying she wanted a real tree, so I went to a lot selling trees from a local tree farm. I mounted it in the stand, wrapped 900 lights around it, got the ornaments from the basement, helped her hang them, and thought I was done.
Nope. She also wanted me to set up the artificial tree we bought before moving to moving to Mexico.
We have never had more than one tree. We didn’t have enough ornaments to decorate a second tree, not to mention all of the lights were used on the first tree.
By the time the second tree was mentioned, the local stores were out of LED lights with white strings (to blend in with a pink tree). I ended up having to order some from Amazon. The ornaments were also picked over.
The worst thing in the world is to have a specific idea in mind for ornaments a week after Thanksgiving. After visiting seven stores, I finally came up with enough that matched to (semi) cover the tree.
After the tour was over, Chelsea told me she is planning on having an additional tree in our bedroom next year.
Excuse me as I wrap this post up early. I need to start online shopping for it now.
