We legitimately went from green leaves on the trees to yellow leaves on the ground almost overnight. It wouldn’t be a problem except for our gutters. They catch everything, get clogged, and require me to climb a ladder to clean them out.
I’m not going to type a long post, because gutter guards really are boring, but I want it recorded that it took me around 5 hours to install about 40 feet of leaf protection. Granted, this was the first section I worked on and it included a trip to Lowe’s for tools. Also, this is the flatter roof which uses a glued-down roll of roofing material instead of shingles. That meant I couldn’t tuck the guards underneath the roof edge, so each piece had to be folded to fit.
I’m not sure how long it will take me to complete the 118 feet I still have to go. Forty-eight of those feet will be where the gutters meet a metal roof. I may have to repeat the folding process for that section.
UPDATE: I finally finished the rest of the gutters. I would have finished yesterday but ran out of daylight. All total I spent about 15 hours installing them. Ultimately, I ended up with an autumn sunburn, cut-up hands, and filth from head to toe, but it also appears I may have better drainage and less time climbing up a ladder to clean out the leaves. Fingers crossed.
