The artist who put this together did an amazing job! It is exactly as I imagined and I could not be happier with their workmanship.
If you read the sneak peek, you may remember that the first artist I spoke with wouldn’t attempt the project because he said it would break during shipping. Well, he was right.
The seller packed it remarkably well. Just looking at the parcels as they arrived, I expected no issues with damage. However, three of the four are cracked. I don’t think it would be helpful to ask for replacements. They would likely arrive in the same condition. The seller has offered to send precut pieces so I can have someone repair them locally, but I haven’t decided yet whether to pursue that as an option.
All but two of the cracks are difficult to notice unless the light hits them at just the right angle. Chelsea and I were discussing it and agree that if we found these panels in an antique store we would buy them as-is in a heartbeat. Chelsea tried to make me feel better by saying the flaws added to the aged look.
The thing is I am not even sad about it. My perfectionistic side would love for them to be whole, but I also understand how fortunate I am to have this incredibly beautiful piece of artwork in our home. I’ll find something else to be disappointed about, but it won’t be this. I just hate that the photos don’t do it justice.
