Chelsea and I love stained glass in old houses and buildings. Unfortunately, ours didn’t come with any. I had been looking at the house with the idea of replacing a window with a stained glass panel at some point. I finally became fixated with the large four-pane window at the top of our stairwell. It gets lots of sun, but from the second-story the view isn’t great. (It overlooks part of the roof.)
I asked an international stained glass artist if they could make a panel that would cover the entire window (approximately 73″ x 28″). They told me that wasn’t possible because it would likely break during shipping. I then asked the original artist, plus two others, if they could make and ship safely four 35.5″ x 13.5″ panels. The idea being to split one large image into four equal parts. That would allow me to cover the window panes individually.
The first artist outright said, “No.”
The second artist said he could, but the pricing was well beyond what were willing to spend.
The third artist said she could and quoted a price that I felt was reasonable.
Today, I got a message that the panels will be shipping next week. I reached out to the seller and asked if she would send some photos when the panels are complete. She said that they are finished and sent over a dozen pictures.
I am truly blown away with the job she did. It is exactly as I imagined it.
They are coming from Ukraine, so I won’t know how long shipping will take until I get a tracking number. Hopefully, I will have them in-hand and installed in the next few weeks.
