We are continually mentioning how hot and sweaty we are in Mexico. That’s because we are very hot and we are very, very sweaty. Someone here asked if the weather was dramatically different from where we came. The answer is no, not really. The only way I can tell which of the above forecasts is for Bucerias (on the right) instead of Atlanta (on the left) is by looking at the nighttime temperatures. Atlanta cools down a little more, but that is about it.
The real difference is the use of air conditioning. In Atlanta, we leave our air-conditioned house, get into our air-conditioned vehicles, and enter air-conditioned businesses. The amount of time we spend outside is usually 5 minutes or less. Even if we decide to eat outside, it will be in the evenings once it has cooled down. I mentioned that to the different people who have asked. You could look at their faces and tell they couldn’t get their minds around a world of constant air-conditioning.
In Bucerias, electricity during the humid months (May to October) is too expensive to run the A/C all the time. So what do people do? Go on with their lives, sit near a fan if possible, complain, and sweat whether inside or outside.
