Recent find: Harold Altman’s February III

by Steve Bullock on March 26, 2024

Born in the Bronx in 1924, Harold Altman was an American painter and printmaker best known for his lithographs and etchings of Central Park, the parks of Paris, and rural Pennsylvania. His work can be found in museums in New York and Europe.

This is an artist’s proof of the Luxembourg Garden in Paris sometime around February of 1980. The piece caught our eye because we visited this garden in December 2019. It had not changed in almost 40 years. It makes sense that 40 years would be a blink of an eye for a garden over 400 years old.
