I had a general layout of the galley wall mocked up, so I knew we needed a few more pieces to fill in holes. While we were looking for artwork we liked, Chelsea’s mom found an old image of Chelsea’s grandfather, likely from the 1930’s.
The photo is soft looking, almost like it is printed on eggshell. Of course, that’s not the case. The photo part is wrapped around a metal backing in a way that is reminiscent of old political buttons. There was a plastic covering that was also part of the button sandwich. The plastic was cracked and discolored, so we ended up having to remove it.
So far, I have taken it to two people who are familiar with Victorian photographic techniques and neither of them knows what this is or how it was produced.
