We have met several artists since moving to Concord. One of them is April Simmons. She earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at SCAD and her Master’s of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. We really like her work and are fortunate to have a couple of her pieces.
The first was titled Owl and Underwood, a mixed media piece which quickly found a home in the library.
The second item is Swan and Table, a series of wood tiles covered in pigment and wax.
April’s artwork speaks to us in a way that we don’t deliberate where it will fit in the house. It may take a little time, but we will find a place. At the moment we are collecting art for a stairwell gallery wall, so Swan and Table may end up there. I also have a vision for it in the kitchen if we ever start the remodel.
