Someone was selling a lamp that is only a couple of years old, but looks much older. The only problem was that the interior of the lamp shade was coated with a heavy mercury finish. That resulted in a bright silver color which looked a lot like chrome. It really didn’t fit with the other items in our living room. I took a risk and lightly sanded the interior of the shade to expose some of the clear glass. I then used a brass spray paint to very lightly coat the interior. That didn’t give the hoped for result, so I lightly sprayed the exterior as well. Between the two coats, it game the shade a vintage gold tint that I was happy with.
